No Film Week: Oct. 28-Nov. 3

It’s the spookiest week of the year and time for Jamie Lee Curtis to get that residual money. But don’t worry, I’m not scared, even if Kyle keeps daring me to look in the mirror and say “Candyman” five times. This is my sleepover and I’m a big boy and I’ll definitely do it, Kyle. Anyways, here’s what else is happening (Candyman):

What to Plan on:

Time for a post-Halloween palate cleanser- why not two celebrations of incredibly talented foreign actors? FIAF is wrapping up it’s Isabelle Adjani series and in November is starting a retrospective around Charlotte Gainsbourg, including the U.S. premiere of My Dog Stupid (Nov. 12), Gainsbourg’s new film that was directed and also stars Yvan Attal, her long-time partner. After the screening there’s a Q&A with Gainsbourg and Attal plus a reception and dinner.

Scandinavia House isn’t taking this shit lying down and in November is starting their retrospective series around Liv Ullmann, including having two (count it, FIAF) “Evenings with” events with Ullmann after the screenings of her films The Wayward Girl (Nov. 13) and Miss Julie (Nov. 14).

Both Gainsbourg and Ullmann are incredibly talented and both of these series look great. But this isn’t about looking good- it’s about looking better than those other foreign institute assholes. Fight! Fight! Fight! Candyman!
